#TurkeyElections – New Young Turks calls for unity and fight against terrorism
New Young Turks would like to thank all the political parties across Turkey for participating in peaceful, transparent and democratic elections.
The need for unity is needed more today than ever before. There is no real victor today except the people of Turkey. We should not forget all the innocent lives brutally moved down by terrorists recently, especially in Ankara, Suruç and Diyarbakır. We must remember those injured and maimed with the intention to divide our nation, creating tensions whilst targeting our precious democracy. The terrorists were not able to achieve their objectives and will never be able to achieve their objectives.
Those elected must also understand that the people of Turkey expect responsible office, representatives that truly represent their people and listen to its young people whilst affording them opportunities to grow into becoming the next generation of great leaders. Halid Kıratlı, spokesperson for NYT said, “The next few years are an opportunity to increase the bonds of unity and focus on a renewed and prosperous Turkey. A nation that makes the extra effort to not just listen but work hard to build trust with its younger generations in developing them and creating new opportunities. One nation, one people, Turkish citizens irrespective of ethnicity or faith.”
NYT will continue to monitor the post election process to ensure that representation of young people is ensured and their votes respected.
